Mission Outline
Mission 2 is launched on a SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket from Cape Canaveral, Fla., in January 2025. RESILIENCE is expected to deliver commercial and scientific equipment to the lunar surface and to contribute to the NASA-led Artemis program.

Summary:
The TENACIOUS Rover is a small exploration vehicle, able to flexibly operate customer payloads on the lunar surface. Its lightweight and durable design maximizes payload capacity within the mass envelope.
At ispace, we’ve turned our attention to the Moon. By taking advantage of lunar water resources, we can develop the space infrastructure needed to enrich our daily lives on earth, as well as expand our living sphere into space.

In the HAKUTO-R program, we develop a new all-solid-state battery for lunar exploration, transport the experiment module to the moon, and conduct a technology demonstration test of all-solid-state battery on the lunar surface for the first time in the world. -

The Mission 2 lunar exploration activities will also contribute to the NASA-led Artemis program. In December 2020, ispace EUROPE was selected by NASA to acquire regolith from the lunar surface to be purchased by the space agency. In furtherance of this effort, a shovel developed by Epiroc AB, a leading productivity and sustainability partner for the mining and infrastructure industries, and a corporate partner participating in the HAKUTO-R program, will be mounted on the front of the micro rover. Once on the lunar surface, operators plan to use the shovel to collect a sample of lunar regolith and photograph the collection with the camera mounted on the rover.

Based on its corporate philosophy of “Study the properties of water, master them, and we will create an environment in which nature and humanity are in harmony,” Kurita Water Industries provides water environmental solutions to customers and society through a wide range of water treatment products, technologies, and services. On the HAKUTO-R project, Kurita provided ultrapure water to the lunar water electrolysis equipment developed by Takasago Thermal Engineering Co., Ltd. that will be mounted in Mission 2. We aim to play a part in humanity’s challenge to space by developing water recovery and purification technology in the space field and constructing sustainable space plants.
